Wedding Flower Budgeting

I thought it would be helpful to do a quick summary of example wedding flower budgets and what you can expect to receive from us within your budget.

There is a lot of flexibility when it comes to sorting through a budget for your wedding flowers. It’s important to know, as a couple, how important fresh flowers are for your wedding day – you may feel flowers aren’t a central focus for your day or you may feel your flowers are ‘the thing’ that will bring your special day to life. Also, your venue plays a big role in the overall vibe for your wedding so this needs to be considered too.

As a good rule of thumb, we suggest your floral budget account for 15-25% of your overall wedding budget. Our minimum for full services wedding florals (this includes bridal party florals, ceremony and reception) is $2,500. But if you are looking for Pinterest-worthy, lush, abundant designs, we would suggest budgeting at least $5,000 - $7,500 for florals which is what most of our couples spend.

Remember, it is your day and the day should reflect your style, your dream and your vision for your wedding day. You do you!

Below is by no means a complete list. Like everything wedding related there are so many ‘what ifs’ and ‘add this’ scenarios. The following is meant to be a rough guide to help you plan which items could be covered within your price range.

Under $2,500

· Most often, this will allow for a bridal bouquet, a few bridesmaid bouquets as well as buttonholes for the groom and groomsmen. Depending on the number in the bridal party, it could include buttonholes and corsages for a few additional family members, a small ceremony feature or a collection of bud vases for reception tables.

$3,500 - $7,500

· Depending on the size of the bridal party, this will cover off all bridal party flowers (bouquets, buttonholes) as well as allow for some table designs at the reception. We would suggest small centrepieces or abundant bud vase collections on each table and a feature centrepiece design for the bridal table.

· You may prefer a feature installation at the ceremony or a hanging ceiling installation for the reception. We love creating these to give that ‘wow’ factor.

$7,500 - $10,000

· With this budget, we are often looking at a collection of bridal party florals, a large statement/ impact pieces at the ceremony (for example, urn arrangements or an arbour PLUS aisle flowers, a reception installation such as a hanging feature with florals (think gyposphila floating cloud above bridal table), reception table florals, candles, cake florals and gift table florals. Think there are an abundance of blooms in all the right places!

$10,000 +

· This price range falls within our luxe full service wedding – most often this includes bridal party florals, a ceremony floral full feature/ installation, an installation at the reception (ceiling or bridal table), as well as guest table centrepieces or a cascade table design adorned with glass cylinder candles, etc. There are endless beautiful possibilities here and we can bring your vision to life. We create unique forever moments for you.

It is almost impossible to provide all details on each and every budget because every couple’s wedding is unique. The above looks to provide some guidance on what items can be accounted for within a budget.

There are literally hundreds of scenarios and combinations so we have tried to keep things simple for you.Also, prices will vary quite a bit depending on the number of flowers used and quantity of premium blooms to be included. Peonies, orchids, etc. are more premium flowers so the budget needs to account for these.

Labour Charges

It is also important to be aware labour charges can vary dramatically as each venue has it’s own rules on when we can set up and when we need to pack down. Arbours and ceiling installations can literally take hours to install at the venue so labour charges need to be factored into your budgeting. They are a necessary expense as we want to ensure that everything is looking stunning for you on your wedding day.

From our perspective, we are super excited to work with couples regardless of your budget. Our minimum spend is $2,500 and we are always happy to provide suggestions on where the money is best spent, where to get to get the most value at your venue and how to make the greatest impact on the day. We love creating that ‘wow’ factor for your wedding day!

Finally, remember every florist prices differently and it might be that florists in your area charge more for some items than we do or vice versa. We’re simply looking to provide this as a guide to help manage expectations, rather than as a formal quote.
